Registering data

Use an approved import profile rather than copying files into managed storage and hoping they are discovered.

Before import

• Confirm the project, session, instrument, detector, grid, and data owner.
• Verify that the source is complete, stable, readable, and authorized for the destination project.
• Choose the correct format profile and confirm units, image dimensions, pixel size, dose, and acquisition metadata.
• Decide whether source data will be referenced in place or transferred under the facility policy.

Import workflow

1. Create or select the destination session.
2. Select the approved source and import profile.
3. Review detected files, metadata mappings, warnings, exclusions, and estimated storage use.
4. Run a small validation batch and inspect image orientation, scale, metadata, and target relationships.
5. Start the complete import and monitor rejected or duplicate items.
6. Record the import summary and resolve warnings before downstream processing.

Never import confidential or regulated data into a project that lacks the required access, retention, and privacy controls.
