CryoMaestro overview
CryoMaestro is a private operating environment for cryo-EM facilities. It keeps the physical sample, instrument plan, acquired data, processing history, and operational record connected instead of splitting them across unrelated applications and spreadsheets.
What it covers
Section titled “What it covers”- Facility intake — projects, users, shipments, dewars, pucks, boxes, samples, and grids.
- Scheduling — instrument bookings, access, ownership, and session preparation.
- Microscope workspace — status, presets, calibrations, acquisition plans, targets, and run monitoring.
- Live quality feedback — early motion, CTF, ice, contamination, picking, and classification signals.
- Processing and analysis — session processing, cross-session workspaces, saved workflows, jobs, and results.
- Operations — utilization, throughput, instrument health, compute activity, and provenance.
The central record
Section titled “The central record”CryoMaestro models the relationships that matter: a project contains samples and grids; a grid enters a session; a session produces targets and exposures; each processing result points back to its inputs, settings, and acquisition context. That connected record is what makes handoffs inspectable.
- Facility administrators configure access, instruments, integrations, policies, and review gates.
- Microscope operators prepare sessions, review preflight state, supervise runs, and respond to warnings.
- Researchers follow their samples, inspect results, and work in assigned projects and analysis spaces.
- Methods teams propose extensions through the documented review process.
CryoMaestro is not a medical device or a certified instrument-safety system. A trained operator must validate each deployment and remain responsible for live instrument operation. Read the Research-Use Notice before connecting an instrument.
