Qualified operation
Only trained and authorized personnel should configure or operate live instrument integrations. Operators remain responsible for manufacturer instructions, facility procedures, access controls, specimen protection, dose and movement limits, and deciding whether automation is appropriate for a particular instrument state.
Before live mutation
- Verify the microscope, camera, column valve, beam blank, screen, stage, apertures, vacuum, interlocks, and active warnings.
- Save recoverable stage, optics, detector, and preset state.
- Use bounded moves and acquisition budgets; verify readback after consequential actions.
- Maintain a tested stop path and supervise first use after any software, configuration, calibration, or hardware change.
- Do not treat a green software preflight result as a replacement for hardware interlocks or operator review.
Scientific outputs
Automated targets, quality scores, CTF estimates, motion results, particle picks, classes, and other outputs are computational estimates. Validate them with controls and qualified scientific review before relying on them for research conclusions or further expensive collection.
Plugins and integrations
Plugins may execute third-party code with access to compute and configured data paths. Review source, license, provenance, network behavior, permissions, container configuration, and output quality before installation. Obtain restricted dependencies directly from their official publishers. A “maintained integration” label is not a safety certification or upstream endorsement.
